REMINDER: Update Your Web Browser to Ensure Secure Payments!
Here is a friendly reminder that come June 15th, 2016, you will want to ensure that you've updated your web browser to support TLS 1.2.
We first blogged about this in early May, but that post is repeated below for you convenience and will walk you through the easy steps to make sure that you're up to date!
Original Blog Post
As part of our ongoing work to keep Second Life transactions secure and in compliance with applicable regulations, we are updating the browser requirements for Second Life’s web cashier (the tool you see when you login on the web and go to make a payment).
Effective June 15, 2016, you will need to use a web browser that supports TLS 1.2 in order to access the Second Life web cashier; if your browser does not support TLS 1.2, you will not be able to access cashier to send, receive, or exchange L$ after that date.
Please check that your browser’s security support is up to date. You can do this simply by visiting https://www.howsmyssl.com/ and checking that it detects TLS 1.2 in the Version section:
Updated security support is also required for accessing the cashier via the Second Life Viewer. The latest version of the official SL Viewer is safe. You can download it here: http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/.
If you’re not using the latest version of the official SL Viewer, check the browser built into the viewer you use with the same test above. Actively maintained Third Party Viewers should have versions available that have the required support. Older or unmaintained viewers may not, and you will not be able to use them for L$ transactions after the deadline if you do not update.
If you need to update your web browser (or aren’t sure), you can download the latest versions of popular browsers using the links below:
