What happens when you sell you linden for real money? (how do you get the money)

When you sell Lindens, they first go to you Second Life USD balance. You can then cash out the USD to a Paypal account (which must be verified, i.e., associated to a credit card). Once the real money is in your Paypal account, you can either use it through paypal to purchase things in RL, or transfer the funds from your Paypal to your bank account. 

Note that the cash out process to Paypal usually takes up to 5 business days (weekends and US holidays not included).
