Nope.  No way at all.  Your username is permanent, just like your UUID.  You have only two options:

1. Use a Display Name.  A display name is like a nickname -- good for casual use among friends but not for ""official" things like logging in.  Many SL residents use display names regularly.  Many others routinely set their viewers to show only usernames, so you will still find plenty of people who call you alaucrd.  Still, it's a handy feature.

2. Open a new account -- an alt.  You may have up to 5 accounts at the same IP address. Aside from giving you another av with a different name, having an alt can be useful for those times when you want to be inworld without your friends knowing.  An alt can also be handy if you need a co-owner for a group, or if you want someone to hold onto some of your cash or transferable inventory.
