This message usually appears when the region you're trying to log in to is offline.  If this is just happening today, it's very common...because LL does region upgrades and rolling restarts on Tuesdays.  Have you tried logging in to a different location?

It's TUESDAY!  Maintenance day.  Always check the grid status blog to keep abreast of scheduled (and unscheduled) grid-wide maintenance.  In this case, as on most Tuesdays, the blog says ......
