i cant log into secondlife with my new password but can log onto marketplace

How far along in the login process are you getting? Are you getting any other messages besides the incorrect password message?

Is your password more than 16 characters? Only enter the first 16.

Have you tried logging into the SecondLife grid (game) with your old password. It does take several hours often for a new password to come into effect on the grid itself, so you might just have to wait for a few hours.
