You're not using a pre-paid card, are you?  A common cause of payment method failure is the use of unsupported card types. At this time, the majority of prepaid cards are not compatible with our system, even if they bear the VISA/AMEX/Mastercard logo. This includes cards purchased at retail stores, rechargeable credit cards, and bank-issued check cards.

There are two things happening here.

First, like most companies, LL does a $1 "test transaction" to see if your card works.  This shows up on your account activity, but it is not permanent.  The charge will be reversed in a few minutes or hours.  YOU WILL NOT LOSE ANY MONEY.

Second, the "problem with your payment method" message means that you are using a credit card that LL does not accept.  From your post, this appears to be a pre-paid card.  Linden Lab won't accept it.

You can try using it at one of the authorized $L resellers, however.  Some of them accept payment methods that Linden Lab does not.
