Gusher Castaignede
Having issues with a fan model made in 3dsmax... all parts (11) were attached prior to uploading, but once uploaded seems three parts are unlinkable, but i need it as one mesh object..any pointers on how to go about solving this? arton Rotaru
Sounds like you may have assigned a separate material to each part. Eleven. Then the mesh will be split into one mesh with 8, and another mesh with 3 materials on import. Hence 2 objects.
Gusher Castaignede
Really? I did go back to reduce parts from 11 to 6 and that did solve it but will remember what you said and will try that next time..re-assign texture IDs...Thanks
arton Rotaru
Second Life supports only up to 8 materials on a mesh. If it has more it will be split into multiple objects automatically. Something like the fan should have only 1 material assigned actually. Unless you really need more for certain effects. The fan may be 1 mesh object in SL now, but with 6 materials it will be treated like 6 meshes again in the render pipeline. Which is bad for performance. Gusher Castaignede
Interesting, what happened I think was that simple model in the pick had over a dozen redundant assigned IDs from other parts of my mesh but really its only one texture for that part...Thanks again..
