Open your dashboard at secondlife.com and navigate to Account >>> Account Summary.  Your L$ balance and your USD balance are right in the middle of the page.  Linden Lab will always use your USD balance first for paying bills.  If you do not have a large enugh USD balance, they will charge the remainder to your credit card or PayPal/Skrill account.
