Ok, lately I've been seeing newly created accounts with first and last names. These aren't the display names. They read like this in profile: Charlotte Carlucci (charlotte.carlucci). I used my name as just an example. These accounts are anywhere from a day old to a month or 2. Anyone know how thay are getting the last names?

Third party sites who are allowed to register Second Life accounts.

I checked those not long ago and couldnt get a last name.

They Other day they had the reg API system shut down which is what the third party Sites use for their registration process. I would imagine the shud dould could have been the final change over to single name registrations.

Looks like Linden Lab has finally closed the loophole that allowed third party sites to continue to offer the old surnames. I checked Anshe Chung's Dreamland Reg API site, and the only surname they offer now is "Lastchance". Until very recently, it was still possible to go there or to other sites and register new account names with previously approved and not yet closed surnames, like "Mirror".

while Anshe's site offer's a last name it didn't work i tried every name i could think of plus my own i did find another site offering the Lastchance name and that said it had exceeded maximum daily registrations

Where did you read this? Been trying to find out that is happening to the Reg API. Any sign of it coming back?
