Finrod Ghennyn
Dear Residents, I am very interested to hear what you would give, or envy to receive most as a gift on SL-occasions.For this poll, take it a friend of yours is having his birthday.Options could be:1. An prim bouquet of flowers.2. An overpriced prefab structure.3. A self-build meaningfull personal item.4. Some lindens and a tacky landmark.Ofcourse youre free to share any experiences/gifts you have ever given away. Feel free.
Irene Muni
A notecard with my feelings in her/his birthday. Or a phone call if that is possible.
Finrod Ghennyn
I'd prefer the call above a notecard, because somehow with cards of any type i have the feeling its all a 'standard' text. I guess its a personal thing, words dont mean that much too me unless i hear them in a way of voice.
Irene Muni
Of course. But I don't have the telephone number of all my SL friends. And you are asking for a GIFT: telephone (or chat, or SL voice) + gift.
Nacy Nightfire
It really depends on the recipient, but I'd probably give them a decorated box that when they click it it says "Happy Birthday" in particles, and exactly when they click it I'd pass them some lindens. People love to shop in SL. If you buy something it just goes into their inventory. With Lindens they can amuse themselves in SL spending it, or they can have the pleasure of gifting it away so someone needy, they can use it for tipping at a club or if they take classes or the can gift themself warm feelings by donating the $L gift to a SL charity if they so desire. Depending on how generous you feel, they call do all of these things.
Finrod Ghennyn
You could use the voice communications on SL, i wouldnt go for paying 5$ a minute for calling internationally.
Jo Yardley
I'd give someone a free week of rent in a sim I loved. Something like that, give them an experience in stead of an object
Janelle Darkstone
Friendship. When everything else is gone and the servers are unplugged and dormant, real life friendship still remains.
Melita Magic
Something they would actually want? If you are a friend you should know that. Otherwise this is an acquaintance you are talking about. In which case? Flowers, and/or handmade gift, and/or Gift card and landmark. By the way, what is an ovenpriced item? Something that's been burnt? Elisheva Sopwith
A friend once gave me something called Designer Handbag. I attached it and of course it was a device that immediately sent my av flying into the stratosphere. Of course, I went around giving it to everyone else after that. I should really have smelled a rat when something called Designer Handbag is all perms. I've had some more genuinely beautiful and generous gifts (generally clothes and rp tools), but this was definitely the funniest.

Dillon Levenque
I would always try to find something I know they'll like as a first choice but that's as hard to do in Second Life as it is in Real Life. We've all gotten gifts that matched the 'idea' of what we wanted but fell short of pleasing us. I've given things I've bought that I thought were really beautiful or really clever. I do give people cards but they're always cards I've written myself (I usally find a google image that looks like the 'notepaper' to match the subject and then add text; makes it look like a printed card, to me anyway) and then import it as a texture). Dana Hickman
I always liked those custom-made cards that you wear, and they attach to your HUD and are scripted to turn pages. Since it's a modifiable object to give, one can really put some beautiful graphics and fancy print along with your custom message, instead of the lame old text that you get with notecards. There are freebie blank books and magazines that also work fairly well. I do enjoy (giving and recieving) the gifts of thought and gesture much more so than anything to do with money or material items. The store cards and gifted purchases just feel like a last-minute RL Wal-Mart card with little forethought to me.
Nacy Nightfire
Or you could give them the "thriller" and the "lollypop lollypop" gestures and agree to do a line dance with them and be photographed for posterier, err..I mean posterity.
Mayalily
This is a good question. If it's a special person, I'd have to keep that a secret because it's between me and them. Something true about gifts in RL is that we tend to actually give gifts we would like to receive ourselves. And, since I love flowers, teddy bears and dolls in RL, along with jewelry and fashion... I'd probably share something I love. But that wouldn't work for a guy. I usually give my RL guy CD's or music books because music is his hobby and passion. Men are harder to give gifts too. I usually give the men in my life gift cards because I think men are hard to buy for. So, what gifts do you think are good to give a man? I'm curious. Personally, for me, as a women in both RL and SL, I'd love jewelry the most I think. I also collect jewelry in RL. It's one of my passions. I have been handing out some free friendship bears to some avatars AND enjoying that and made a great friend by doing that, who also collects teddy bears in RL and she put it in her SL home. I was very touched that she loved it so much.
Willow Danube
I few months back, I was using the looprez script to create my first hair. I would like to gift this to Randall Ahren, my friend, for his next coming birthday. :matte-motes-asleep:
Randall Ahren
Why thank you. I was hoping for something more of an adult nature involving you and pose balls <evil green>. My birthday is many months from now, when the earth is approximately on the opposite side of the sun. I was born deep in the heart of winter, when the nights are long and boring. What type of hair do you suggest I rezz? I'm rather fond of the short messy look.
