Deltango Vale
Because I am unable to attend the inworld Community Usergroup meetings and because the Community Feedback Forum (where such issues used to be discussed) has been subsumed into the General Discussion Forum (and thereby diluted), I have decided to create my own thread to consolidate my thoughts and provide a focal point for anyone else who wishes to contribute.Needless to say, I will start this thread by providing a link to an earlier thread requesting fora-based usergroups:http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Forums-Feedback/Fora-based-Usergroups/td-p/809667/highlight/trueBy following a backwards trail of links, one discovers that there is, hidden somewhere, a Forums Feedback, but there seems to be no way to get access to it through any normal mode of navigation. So, I will cut through all the confusion and post this thread as originally intended.
Deltango Vale
First item on the agenda is to make visible the Forum Feedback Forum. It would not only make such a forum useful (I had no idea it existed except by accident), but it would take forum feedback issues out of the GD Forum (where they get lost in the noise of general conversation). Deltango Vale
Second item on the agenda - and the reason I went to the trouble to start this thread - is the SLA Forum. Is it not possible to have SLA function as a normal forum? Time and again, I wish to reply to a particular post - to request more information, for example, or to clarify my earlier thoughts - in the same manner as I would reply to any other post in any other thread in any other forum here. It is incredibly frustrating not to be able to respond to posts in SLA.
Deltango Vale
Regarding the Kudos system, I doubt it is functioning as originally intended. For example, I find it very difficult to discriminate between answers. I therefore give Kudos to everyone who replies to a question. Doing so triggers a 2-minute nuclear attack warning, which means I must drum my fingers on the table for however long it takes to give everyone their Kudos. The other problem is that Kudos is limited to SLA, which means a heavy bias in the Kudos system against those who contribute in ways other than SLA. The same might be said for forum ranks. Personally, I don't care about these things, but I feel a system, any system, should function consistently with a clear purpose. ETA: One is limited to 4 Kudos per hour. Rolls eyes. Sorry, Rolig, but I will try to remember to come back to give you your Kudos (she was the 5th person to answer my question). ETA: Thanks Peewee for the flight-assist feather and stick. Thanks to all who answered my question in SLA. When the hour is up (I mustn't forget Rolig), I will go back and select an answer and close the question. Deltango Vale
Right, well that takes care of my opening statement for this thread. If any other 'outsiders' wish to offer contributions for the improvement of the fora, feel free to post them here. Perhaps the 'insiders' will read this thread and write a memo to pass to the committee of the subcommittee of the side-committee who have the good fortune of being free in RL at precisely the same time as the inworld usergroup meetings. Freya Mokusei
tl;dr. The forum's just a dumb place for people to crowd-source for answers, or for people to waste time when they can't get in-world. Politicizing it is crazy. Get yourself a more rewarding hobby. =]
Storm Clarence
I say whack the kudo system period. Btw, SLA is NOT the only venue for kudos - most of the sub-fora provide a kudos mechanism.
Deltango Vale
"I say whack the kudo system period." -------------------------------------------------------------- I tend to agree. I have huge respect for many posters (yourself among them) without having a clue how much Kudos they have. After a few months on these fora, most people know who's who. At best, Kudos is a wobbly distraction.

That would be the best place to add feedback related to Answers, forums, blogs and KB. :smileyhappy:

We will update you when we have more information. Thanks

I assume they have some connection to the ranking calculation, but aside from that the only thing I see them doing is making the threads in SLA even more confusing, because posts with koodies get moved up and trash the "flow" of the thread which is already random at best.
