Yes LL encourages sending gifts to one another even if it is yourself; good for the economy.  If the item is purchased in MP make sure you select the gift option so as not to receive a non-trans object and then try to gift.

the Marketplace offers a gift" option but make sure your alt is logged in to recieve it.

Many merchants also offer gifting options.

However, the easiest method might be just to send your alt lindens

No-Trans-Items, no. Both Av`s are handled as diffrent persons.
