0 Dazler
Imagine the whole of Second Life being made from Lego blocks. A prim is the equalivalent of a single Lego piece. A script is a short piece of software that controls a minor task, such as turning a light on or off, making a prim bigger or smaller, giving the user a notecard, creating a cloud of mist ... and so on.
0 Rolig Loon
Scripts don't just control minor tasks. Essentially anything other than an avatar that moves, communicates, gives items from one person (or object) to another, accepts L$, or changes appearance is controlled by a script.
